When someone blocks you, their profile stops loading for your account, your old likes and comments vanish from their posts, and you cannot find them in search or tag them. Instagram never confirms a block, because confirming it would turn the feature into a weapon. So the answer always comes from comparing what your account sees against what a stranger sees.
What are the signs you have been blocked?

How do you confirm it in 30 seconds?

What happens to your old messages?
They stay. Blocking does not delete the conversation from either inbox — both of you keep the full history, and the thread stays searchable. What changes is that new messages fail to deliver, and their profile photo in the thread becomes a blank placeholder. If they later unblock you, the same thread simply starts working again, with nothing lost in between.
Can you tell if they unblock you?
Only by checking. There is no notification for an unblock either, but the symptoms reverse: the profile loads for your account again, and your old likes and comments come back exactly where they were. What should you do about it?
Nothing, in most cases.
